Friendship Feast

We had a great time - thanks to all who sent in ingredients - that's the key to Stone Soup - working together!

Getting Ready for the Feast

Here's the table cloth we made for the Friendship Feast (the one that was too wet to use!)

So Much to Choose From!

Miss Karyn may have been on vacation (we hope you enjoyed it and we missed you!), But the Rainbow Room stayed very busy in her absence. Here is just a sampling of our activities with Miss Jillian.

Gluing and Texturing....

Jungle gears....

Connecting people....

Positive Choices puzzles....
Finger Painting with fall colors. Always a favorite among the Rainbow Room children....

Grocery Shopping Prop box! We have been exploring putting things into bags and carrying them around, so it was fun to see how the children worked with one another taking turns shopping, checking out, and of course, carrying the bags!....

Blocks and corks to build with in one of the sensory tables....
Decorating our Friendship Feast invitations for parents in the writing center....

Playing with cars and ramps....
Cooking! Miss Jillian loves to cook, and shared a simple but fun and hands on recipe for "rice" Krispies made with Trix cereal. It was colorful, sticky, moldable, and EDIBLE!

and of course, some group reading time!

Staying busy helped time pass quickly and Miss Karyn was back before we knew it! Just in time too! Ask her about her trip if you get a minute, she went to some fascinating places!

Our Furry Friends

This is Squeak, our classroom pet. She's a dwarf hamster. It's really fun to watch her eat, move, run in her wheel and...
Around the floor in her hamster ball!

As she moves around to each child, we talked about her colors, how she feels, what she eats, and how to take care of her. Sitting in a circle, everyone can see, and Squeak can't escape!

Storm came to visit us again, and he brought a friend! Mr. Ron talked about what policemen (and policedogs) do and how they are our friends, introducing us to one and his police dog.

Saying hello and petting our new friend!
