First Days of School

We love our new gym!

The bike path on the playground is great too!

Our big box from the changing table delivery!  This is what I mean when I say my lesson plans are just that - plans, prepared possibilities - the children and events of the day lead the curriculum.  The box led us to talk about over, under, in and out!

We learned to use the watercolor paints which are always out on the art shelf.

We did some work taken from Montessori - we practiced transferring noodles with a spoon (and those with less patience practiced pouring - still a very important practical life skill!)

The sand table gave us many chances to practice using a whisk and dustpan.

We got to know our dwarf hamsters - Pip and Squeak!

We played with pom pom balls - using tongs to develop fine motor skills, talking about colors, and even sorting!

Hats and tools were a big hit in the block area and dresses were so popular all over the room that I had to bring in more!

We sang the Itsy Bitsy Spider at group time - and acted it out on the felt board!

Group times are not the only times we read books...
